I am trying to update my inventory, and date of manufacture is a field to be entered. Hi Dave, and welcome. The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson shows that serial numbers: N400000 through N499999 were shipped 1977 through 1978. I would guess that yours was shipped in 1977, but that is just a guess.The model number under the forcing cone is AUN3343, but I'm not quite sure about the A, it might be an N. The serial number is not very clear either. It starts with a 3, then 9 or 0, then a 0, after this comes what seems to be an 8 and finally a 5 or a 6. Thank you very much. Also I would like to know if the price I paid for the gun was correct.The number on butt is: D218xxx. The number on Yolk if it helps is: 99924. It has a 5 screw frame and was made between 1950 and 1956.
