First off theres the Gen III and Gen IV, theres a couple small differences and I'll start with the gen III 97-04/05. Gen III engines include the LS1 (ally 5.7), LS6 (ally 5.7 HO), LM7 (iron 5.3), LR4 (iron 4.8 ) and the LQ4/9 that you know about. Theres an ssr ally 5.3 too but i don't know designation. Ls1/6 have gun drilled cranks afaik.
