The trail starts at the Mt. Woodson Golf Club right next to Archie Moore Road. It follows the golf course for a while and then very briefly parallels the road. After a third of a mile, you hike up alongside a residential area on the right. This part of the trail provides a decent amount of shade that makes this into a fun hike even when it's hot.
